Finding Peace by Letting Go: Why Less Is Truly More

Do you ever feel like you’re constantly playing catch-up? Not just with life’s big milestones but with everything—your to-do list, responsibilities, and the endless demands pulling you in every direction?
If you’re anything like me, you might always have a dozen plates spinning at once. And no matter how much you manage to check off your list, it feels like there’s always more to do. That nagging feeling in the pit of your stomach—the one whispering, “You’re not doing enough” or “You’ll never catch up”—can be relentless.
But here’s the thing: a few months ago, I made a choice. I decided I was done with that narrative.
In the final months of 2024, I stopped trying to do it all. Instead, I started removing things from my plate.
This meant saying no to opportunities that didn’t align with the life I wanted to build. It meant cutting out unnecessary “busyness” and focusing on what truly matters—my family, my well-being, and the intentional life I’m working to create.
Let me tell you, it hasn’t been easy. The urge to take on more, prove myself, and keep up with everyone else is strong. But you know what’s stronger? The peace that comes with simplifying and focusing on what truly fills your heart.
As I sit here, seven weeks into the new year, I don’t have all my goals finalized or a perfectly detailed plan for the months ahead.
And you know what? That’s okay.
It’s okay not to have it all figured out. It’s OK to pause, breathe, and let yourself just be.
Sometimes, less really is more. Sometimes, the clarity we’re searching for doesn’t come from adding more to our lives but from subtracting the things that no longer serve us.
So, as we start to round out the first two months of this year, how are you feeling? Have you permitted yourself to let go of what doesn’t serve you?
Take a moment to reflect. Maybe, just maybe, this is the year you choose to stop chasing and start living.
With strength and purpose,
Amanda
